How to Conquer Your Fear of Failure

How willing are you to take your life into your own hands and go after the life you deserve?  Do you experience any type of anxiety or apprehension at the mere thought of putting yourself out there? Would you allow those feelings to stop you or would you move forward with your goals? Fears… we all have them. But what separates us is how we deal with them. Are you a person that allows the fear of failure to cripple you or do they motivate you?

The Fear of Failing

Fear is a normal feeling. It often happens when something is new or unknown. Fear is a part of human nature, it’s a part of life. On the other hand, failure is also a part of life. In fact, failure is inevitable, just as it’s necessary. Many of us know this, but we still cower at the idea of doing something because we’re scared of screwing up. Why is that?

When you allow your fear of failure to consume you, you prevent yourself from living a fulfilling life and reaching your fullest potential. If you’re constantly stopping yourself from taking the plunge how will you ever get to where you want to go? When it comes to life, playing it safe all the time will get you nowhere fast. Sometimes, you just have to listen to your gut and bet on yourself.

“Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” -- Helen Keller

Failing Isn’t the End of the World

Letting go of your fears and finding your courage can impact your life in a number of positive ways. Like I said before – failure is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be scary or the end of the world. Shoot Steve Jobs and Mark Zukerburg have failed plenty of times. Could you imagine where these people would be if they let failure stop them?

Remember, it’s not how you fall, but how you get back up. Failure is vital for growth! We all have to start somewhere, so stop waiting for things to be perfect before you even begin. Ask yourself, if everything in your life came super easy to you, would you even appreciate it?

In Conclusion

Life is way too short to allow your fears to have control over your life. I believe that we were all put on this earth for a reason, but many people will never discover their purpose in life because they’re too scared to. You deserve so much better for yourself! So, stop saying no and start saying yes to yourself! In order to conquer your fear of failing, remember these key things.

  1. Embrace the journey.

  2. Open yourself up to the lessons to be learned.

  3. Identify your fears by writing them down so that you can adequately face them.

  4. Channel your fears and turn them into something positive.

  5. Remember being scared sometimes is good but it shouldn’t hinder you from living your life.
