Trust Your Gut: 4 Things Highly Intuitive People Do Differently

Have you ever done something that you knew was a bad idea, before you even did it? You had an uneasy feeling deep down in your stomach that put your senses on high alert, but you did it anyway. Now, you’re forced to face the consequences of your decision, one that could’ve been avoided had you just trusted to your initial gut feeling in the first place. When it comes to decision-making, your intuition should always come into play. Do you trust your gut?

What is Intuition?

Sophy Burnham, author of the best-selling novel “Art of Intuition” describes intuition as “a knowing without knowing,” separate from thinking, logic or analysis. Others have defined it as the simple ability to know something without reason or much analytical thought. Whatever you want to call it, we all have it, but many of us don’t use it to our benefit.

They say that intuition is the highest form of intelligence. It’s not really about knowing the right answer or what to do all the time, rather, it’s a form of unconscious reasoning that we’re faced with on a daily basis. Our intuition develops based on our past experiences and having a sense of one’s self.

Trust Your Gut

Some of the world’s most successful people are highly in sync with their intuition. (People like Oprah, Steve Jobs, and Beyonce’ to name a few.) At one time or another, they’ve expressed that their ability to trust their gut and allowing their intuition to guide them down their special paths in life. If you want to tap into your intuition a little further, try these five things.

4 Things That Highly Intuitive People Do Differently

1. Spend time alone

There is a power that comes with solitude and spending time alone. Doing so allows you to connect with your deepest self, without distractions.

2. Connect with their inner voice

The ability to connect with and listen to their inner voice is one of the key things that highly intuitive people do. It’s very easy to ignore your gut feelings. But if you want to kick your intuition into high gear, you have to start paying attention to this inner voice. If you’re having trouble, try meditating.

3. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is the act of being aware of one’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions. This is another skill that can be achieved by meditation. When you are mindful, you can better recognize the signs or reactions you’re having to something, and make better decisions about exposing yourself to something.

4. Listen to their bodies

We know that a gut reaction, is literally our body reacting to something or a situation. Highly intuitive people are able to recognize how their body reacts in certain situations and listen to it, rather than ignore it.
